Ted Prettyman

Ted Prettyman, Director, is best known for his knowledge of Congress and health policy. With his hard-working approach to government affairs, he works with clients to meet their lobbying, strategy, and analytical needs. Ted brings together his experience on the Hill with his time in the lobbying world to provide clients and stakeholders with insight and clearly communicated information.

Focusing on leveraging information, Ted develops data-driven, informed, and insightful strategies for engaging with the right Members of Congress, Administration officials, and key stakeholders for your issue. Ted always looks for the big picture, understanding the importance of how the broader political and policy landscape affects your goals. Policy and politics are not driven solely by the opinions of Members of Congress and the Administration; public opinion, stakeholder views, and other influential voices are key drivers in shaping debates and solutions. Ted understands how each of these pieces play an important part in creating government relations and advocacy strategies. Ted focuses on the details, whether it is knowing what key issues are really on Members’ minds in Congressional hearings, or through reviewing the latest legislation or regulatory proposals. Distilling this information into usable items for both government affairs leaders and corporate executives is Ted’s specialty, whether through insightful memos or 535-Member of Congress data-driven spreadsheets.

Ted previously served on the staff of Senator Tom Carper, supporting the Senator’s work on the Senate Finance Committee and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Ted holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from American University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Delaware.
